Mr. Lane you've done it again!

No we are not talking about Nathan Lane, though we did love him in The Birdcage and The Producers. We are talking about Kenneth Jay Lane, designer of the beautiful belt below. This is not some tiny little single strand of jewels, this is a full fledged crystal belt. There are four strands of orange crystals connected by groups of pink, amber, blue and lilac crystals. The buckle is a paisley style feather design in the same stones as the rest of the belt.

A BIRKIN A DAY

If only a Birkin a day, would keep the doctor away. Well, we have FOUR Hermes Birkin bags that just arrived and we will post detail photos of them in the next week, so start your engines...however, we will encourage our serious blog loving Hermes clients to email or phone as soon as possible to reserve the bags. Except for the orange Birkin, all the other bags are unused. If you are expecting to pay $14,000 per Birkin like some on-line sellers do with unused Birkins, you will be delighted with the prices of these bags. However, if you are looking for a "beater Birkin" priced below current Hermes retail, these may not be the right bags for you.

Canary Crossover

For the third year in a row, yellow is forecast to be a hot color for Spring 2010, so get a head start today! Yellow may not for everyone, as we know this from personal experience. If yellow is in your palette, congratulations! We have the perfect gown brought to you from one of our favorite designers Carolyne Roehm. The material is a canary yellow taffeta that will brighten up even the most dull occasion. The bustier top has been criss-crossed with ruched taffeta that loops around the shoulders. At the back the bustier dips down in V shape, rounding out the "old Hollywood glamour" neckline. Below, is a full skirt filled with white tulle for perfect amount of volume.

When you just don't know what to wear...

surprise everyone by throwing on an Emanuel Ungaro Haute Couture kimono. This kimono is made from a copper velvet burnout. The trim around the neck is a classic Japanese silk with a floral butterfly motif. Lining the interior of the kimono is a silk georgette with a black, copper and cream brush stroke print. We would recommend throwing this over a black shell (e.g. tight dress or black tank with jeans etc.). If you're feeling randy when you get home, consider re-enacting a scene from Mahogany. May we suggest the scene where Ms. Ross grabs the closest candle and drips hot wax onto her kimono laden body.

Kara Ross, our good friend at Decades, has just re-launched her amazing website devoted to everything we love: Kara's bold and glamorous jewelry and handbags. But she's made the site a family affair! Her beautiful and stylish daughter, Avery McCann, is the site's model. We love Kara, her designs, and think Avery is a designer's dream model and muse.

MAKE A STATEMENT

This fall may very well be the season of the sculptural jacket. Everywhere we look we are seeing bold shoulders, architectural collars, and textured fabrics on statement jackets that can cost well into five figures. If the ten thousand dollar jacket makes a statement in 2009, think about what kind of statement the vintage YSL jacket below makes! First of all, it immediately sets you apart from the five-figure-fashion victims because you have discovered the original inspiration of the statement jacket (well it wasn't just YSL who was doing sculptured jackets in the 80s...Mugler and Montana and certainly Alaia have had their way with Blade Runner proportion shoulder jackets evocative of Gilbert Adrian's styles in the 1940s) by none other than one of the greatest designers of the 20th Century, the incomparable Yves Saint Laurent. The jacket is a wool faille cropped shape with a collar and cuff in horizontal gold lurex stripes, all trimmed in grosgrain. We suggest you wear this with very skinny jeans or pants and a jersey tank top. It is perfect for fall and straight into the holiday season. Believe it or not, the holidays are around the corner! However, in the meanwhile, enjoy this jacket that's a little bit rock 'n roll, a little Joan Crawford, and a whole lot of YSL. Make a statement in the chicest way possible.

Perfect Combo

There are two staple colors that every Birkin collector must own: black and chocolate. This Birkin is a 40cm in chocolate brown Togo leather with gold hardware. For those of you that crave the "big boy", by this we mean a 40, this color combo is perfect. The chocolate leather and gold hardware is one of the most classic and desirable combos offered by Hermes. This bag comes with everything a Birkin would ever need: a box, dust cover, rain cover, lock and key. Did we mention that the bag is new, never been used? Yes! It is brand new, and still has all of the plastic covers on the hardware. So don't delay, call us and give this beautiful bag a loving home. Your Birkin needs you! It is also priced attractively for around the same price one would pay at Hermes if one could purchase such a bag at an Hermes boutique but as any savvy HOP-addict will tell you, this combo is not easy to find on Planet Hermes!

YOU WEAR IT WELL

We love Cameron Diaz. As a matter of fact, one of our favorite Oscar Red Carpet looks was when Cameron wore a variation of the Emanuel Ungaro Haute Couture gown below with a vintage belt and effortless hair to the Academy Awards in 2002. It was modern, sensual, and the antithesis of trying to look like someone you aren't. We are delighted to revisit this famous kimono style printed silk wrap gown in a most democratic size. Whereas Cameron's gown was a runway sample, this one was custom made for a client who is closer to a contemporary size 10 and with it's wrap style can fit a US 8 to 12. Finally a fantastic and sexy gown that isn't minuscule at Decades. We suggest you wear it belted and are showing it with a vintage YSL belt, but we would love it with a silk sash, too. If you plan to sip soup in this dress, mind the sleeves....they are pleated and exaggerated so avoid the gazpacho! We can't wait to discover who will buy this dress and then we can have the ultimate game of "Who Wore it Better?"

Emanuel Ungaro Haute Couture printed silk kimono wrap gown with pleated sleeves and skirt, c. 2002. Modern size 8 to 12 (flexible because it wraps) SOLD

Leathah Mini

If you love LEATHAH as much as we do, your eyes should be bugging out right now. The skirt below is a Gianni Versace black gold studded leather mini-skirt. The back pockets zip closed and on the ends of both front pockets are gold Medusa head coin grommets. The skirt is fully lined with black satin, and the entire skirt is in perfect condition. Amazingly, all the gold studs have stayed on the skirt. We recommend a white ribbed tank, 80'c motorcycle era Chanel cuff, and black very high heels to round out the perfect ensemble. If you feel a little nasty (Miss Jackson style that is) throw on a vintage pair of Ray-Bans.
