Have Luggage, Must Travel!

After three fabulous years writing the Decades Blog, I must bid you adieu! A fond farewell via a very rare Chanel duffel bag. I chose this as my final post because I love this bag and it comes from my favorite client. She has impeccable taste and one of the most incredible Chanel collections I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. This is an amazing duffel that you simply will not come across again.

GO CZECH

I love Castle star Stana Katic in her vintage Yves & Marzia panthere dress from Decades at the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic today. It fits perfectly and the yellow clutch is a nice pop up of color. Her new film FOR LOVERS ONLY is screening at the festival and she is on the judging panel, too. I judge her best dressed!

PATROITIC RED

It is Memorial Day and most of you probably have the lucky day off. We are busy here at Decades photographing around 100 pieces of recently acquired vintage inventory and open for business! So come visit. I have a feeling some of you are relaxing in the sun with iPod in hand while perusing our blog. This 80s red Chanel diamond quilted oversized shoulder bag just came in and is the perfect shade of patriotic red. Worn with blue jeans and a tee-shirt, you are not only nautical chic but also a wearing the colors of our flag: the red, white, and blue.

THE MINI BLUES

If you want to feel the maximum blues, note that Chanel 2.55 bags are going up in price: small bags were $3400, but are now $3900 at the Chanel boutique! This is a vintage mini blue quilted 2.55 and this will give you the mini blues as it costs less than half of current retail and is a very desirable color and size. So don't sing the blues....unless you are buying a contemporary 2.55 at full price within a Chanel boutique today!

'ROUND MIDNIGHT

Midnight blue is one of my favorite colors. I like it worn mid-day and mid-night! However, when wearing a midnight blue gown in the evening, the proper evening bag may not be as easy to match. Of course you can opt for black or an unexpected pop of color, but what of a midnight blue silk Chanel shoulder bag? Doesn't that sound like a particularly dynamite duo: midnight blue gown with midnight blue bag?

Constantly

Nothing says summer like a white bag! This white Hermes Constance bag is the ideal summer schlepper. Big enough for phone, wallet and other essentials, but not so big that it becomes cumbersome. The strap can be worn long (cross body) or short (over the shoulder).

Namesake!

Jean Paul Gaultier (pictured above) was recently retired from the house of Hermes where he produced his namesake bag below. This JPG shoulder Birkin is in the color vert chartreuse with silver hardware. It has been used, so there are a few slight marks on the bag, but nothing major. Hermes retired the bag along with its designer, so you can no longer just walk into a store and buy one.

Fetching Clutch

The Hermes Medor comes in a watch, a belt and this little beauty the clutch! The chocolate brown swift leather is paired with gold hardware. This hardware still has the plastic on and is in pristine unused condition.

TAKE ME TO VENICE

Doesn't a wine layered silk chiffon caftan Halston gown look like the prefect attire for the Venice Biennale? You can wear this with a Roman sandal (well it is Italy) or with a strappy heel for a more formal look. While in Venice, won't you stop by Codongnato and acquire an epic statement necklace for the revealing neckline? I wish I were going to the Biennale. Not only to see all the amazing art, but people watch as it promises to be quite the scene to be seen.

RED DOOR

Elizabeth Arden not only created a beauty empire but she also created a fashion empire. The famous Red Door Salons sold some wonderful American high fashion. I always love to see a dress with Elizabeth Arden provenance and this jersey tank dress with chiffon caftan floral printed overlay has that prized label. Although we photographed the two pieces as one look, the bottom jersey tank dress has tiny floral applique which insure that the dress doesn't require the overlay and is pretty fabulous on its own. When adding the overlay, the piece takes an Endora from "Bewitched" vibe which I don't object to at all. I am sure many a fashion designer is inspired by Agnes Moorehead as Endora, so why shouldn't you?

CANNES CAN AND WIN THE PALME D'OR

Congratulations to the wonderful and super stylish Producer extraordinaire,Dede Gardner, on winning the Palme D'Or last night in Cannes for "The Tree of Life". She did it in a vintage Louise Boulanger from Decades.

Green As it Gets

Here at Decades we are all about being green. It doesn't get much greener than this Bottega Veneta bag from 1974. It is previously owned but looks brand new and is a deep shade of forest green. The design is very unique, it has a removable strap with a handle at the top if you want to cary it like a clutch. One side of the bag has an exterior attached coin purse and the other side has a snap closure pocket. Check out the origonal advirtisment in Vogue below.
