We probably should have posted this charming Emanuel Ungaro Solo Donna pink gingham dress last week, before Memorial Day, since that's a picnic frenzy and festive day in the States. But this dress can take you right through to Labor Day so expect plenty of opportunities to wear this terrifically chic day dress that has a subtle sexiness with the contrast stitching and defined bust line. It was retailed at Fred Heyman in the late 1980s and probably worn to some pretty fabulous picnics in its day, too!

What is coral, ostrich, and 20 cm? Well, this mini Hermes Kelly bag from 1989. We think you will be mad for the intense color in a small package. There is a tiny imperfection (tiny spots) on the right panel of the bag and we are selling the bag at a very friendly price consequently.

THE SUMMER OF CHANEL

We love the clean look of black and white and this early Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel design (likely around 1984) is a great mix of materials all under the master eye of Kaiser Karl. The dress begins with a classic pleated black taffeta bustier that defines your waist and then comes out to a pleated peplum. The skirt of the dress is an embroidered Irish voile with delicate motifs of floral and white motif motifs. For a little drama, an unexpected band of black velvet edges the bottom of the skirt.

We suggest this dress with piles and piles of Chanel costume jewelry and a pair of colorful shoes to bring a splash of your panache!

CAN CANNES

Decades never promised you a rose garden, but we do promise you a rose printed Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche peasant-inspired full skirt. Direct from the 1970s, this polished cotton skirt is perfect for walking the Croisette in Cannes or traversing the pebble streets of Monte Carlo with a straw bag and some sensible sandals. We have paired it with a simple cream silk YSL blouse, but we love it with a Hanes-Her-Way tee, too! (Just roll up the sleeves a bit to give it some attitude and make sure you wear some bold bangles). Ah, summer.

DIAMONDS AND PEARLS

We have an exciting new digital camera. It's driving us crazy as we are having trouble getting the flash to work appropriately, hence the somewhat blown out photos of the classic 1980s era Chanel pearl jewels below. We hope you can see how wonderful this pieces are against all odds! You may be aware that Chanel pearls from the past are so much more beautiful than what one might find at a Chanel boutique today. A former Chanel employee who works in jewelry sales in the 1980s explained that the pearls were made by shaking the glass beads in "pearl dust." She further explained that this is why the Chanel faux pearls looked so real. Mikimoto, watch your back!
