WAFFLES GO BLACK TIE

Who serves waffles for a black tie gala? Who serves waffles for cocktails? Frankly, who serves waffles for dinner? WE DO! We are serving up a dramatic Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche waffle-textured silk gown with monastic cowl hood, full gathered sleeve, coordinating sash, and long skirt. Imagine entering a room with the hood placed on top of your head like Kim Basinger in LA Confidential? Oooh, the glamour. ALAIA IS YOUR BFF

A client of Decades recently wore a vintage Azzedine Alaia divine long gown that she had purchased from our blog to the New Yorkers for Children Gala last week in NYC. She emailed Team Decades from the event to tell us that everyone wanted to buy the dress off her slim bod, including Courtney Love. Her dress was met with such admiration that she is loaning the dress to a relative who has a wedding to attend and knows that Alaia will be her BFF. Speaking of BFFs, this dramatically strapped Alaia just came in with brilliant seaming that makes you slimmer, longer, and will hold in what may want to pop out (i.e., the last five pounds!). The skirt is flirty and the waist slightly drops but just the right drop so it doesn't droop.

If you have a BFF, s/he will never support you the same way this Alaia well and that's what friends are for!

Fall In!

In the past year we have seen everyone from Balmain to Burberry incorporate the military look in their collection. Well leave it to Pierre Cardin, the master of geometrics, to be the first to give us his version of this ubiquitous trend from the 80's. It's 107 degrees in Los Angeles as we type. The Decades Team is all in shorts today to combat the heat. MONET MAZUR + HALSTON = DIVINE

Actress and Friend of Decades and Decadestwo Monet Mazur looked simply divine in vintage Halston at last night's historic unveiling of the Resnick Pavillon at LACMA. Team Decades was there in full force and had an amazing time and we invite all of our clients and friends to come see the incredible exhibits up in the Pavilion including Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700-1915. It's a beautiful exhibit that was curated and designed with such creativity and thought. We know you will love it! We were so inspired we will be back there again tomorrow! Do you recognize the Balenciaga Haute Couture fur? Monet wore Irene Neuwirth jewelry, Valentino shoes, and carried a Jimmy Choo clutch! Chic!

WHO IS AQUA GIRL?

Aqua Girl may be a fictional DC comic character, but we think we can bring her to life in this aqua iridescent Halston strapless wrap gown from the late 1970s. A very unique silhouette with a longer in the front skirt and multi-wrap bodice, the dress is engineered with an internal "bra" that holds you up without holding you back like a painful corset. This is Halston after all and it's all about fluidity of the Goddess. We dig how unusual the layers of the skirt look from the back and love that the top can be wrapped in a multitude of ways or left to hang loosely. With the LA weather hitting nearly 100 degrees today and the big LACMA Resnick Pavilion gala this evening, we think this is the perfect gown to combat the heat and compliment the historic unveiling of a new Los Angeles cultural attraction that has the City of Angeles buzzing with anticipation!

It was 1988. It was Paris. It was Hermes. And this is what she found: two unusual Hermes bags that we have never seen before that were purchased at the Hermes flagship boutique on Rue Faubourg Saint Honore. We were stumped when we first received these and very inquisitive since we like to think we know everything when it comes to Hermes, but these bags are the ultimate in unusual and we hope you find as charming as we find them! Every so often we get to lose our Hermes virginity once again!

The first bag resembles an over-sized coin purse in black boxed leather with a very chic "H" motif clasp and can be worn as a shoulder bag or carried as a clutch (when removing the strap). The second bag is red Courchevel leather and has a palm tree motif clasp and the leather strap is adjustable for versatile wearing. We particularly dig the hardware at the top of the bag which mimics the clasp. The shape is very reminiscent of Hermes top handles bags (like the "Ring" bag of the 1950s -- we have one in croc we will post shortly), but it functions like the bag of the moment, the Constance, but it so not of the moment as it is completely moment-less and very Decades.
