HIDE AND SEEK

We could write a very similar schpiel about this vintage Chloe top as we did about the Fabrice "top" posted early today because to some it's a dress; others, a tunic; yet others ,a blouse. What is for sure is that it's pretty fabulous. How can one not be seduced by the gold crinkled lame cowl that is exaggerated to Grace Jones proportions?Yes, you can wear the cowl as a hood or off a shoulder, too. Just juxtapose the volume on top with something tight on the bottom and you are good to get up and go. It's cut like a long sweatshirt with a band at the bottom of both sleeves and at the hem (where a few delicate gathers give the top some extra flair via the classy detail). The fabric is crepe satin, but the satin finish is used for the lining so expect to slide and slither a little bit from the sensuality of satin touching your skin.

WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE

Some adventurous souls will call this a dress; while others will call it a tunic; yet sensible folk may refer to it as a evening top. If you are the type of vixen that doesn't mind showing where the sun don't shine, then wear this Fabrice as a dress. Just be sure you have Anja Rubik's legs. If you are fashionable without wanting a reality TV show, try this top as a tunic with a pair of tights. Finally if you are feeling sexy and modest then throw this top on over a pair of super skinny jeans and higher than thou heels. Fabrice brought uptown socials downtown for flashy and sexy clubbing clothes in the 1980s. His aesthetic has influenced many of the hot designers showing on the runways today who are using variations of tee-shirt dressing, ultra short mini dresses, jagged hems, and blinged-out clothing to salivate a generation of fresh-faced fashionistas.

BEFORE JUICY

Before Juicy Couture, there was Norma Kamali deftly designing "sweats" that brought a lot of class to a fabric associated with medicine balls and stinky high school gyms. The early 80s red fleece maxi dress below is the ultimate in casual and athletic dressing. Throw it on over your Lululemons and you can go from home to yoga with some flair. Add a vintage YSL belt as we did below and opaque tights with flat boots and you can fly from Chicago looking chic en route to Chile. Of course if you have a long haul flight may we suggest you also carry the Hermes Red Garance 40 cm Epsom Birkin along for the ride? It suddenly makes the Kamali as luxurious as Loro Piana Baby Cashmere!

RARE BIRD

It isn't easy to find a 35 cm Birkin in ostrich skin. They are a rare bird of sorts, according to Hermes. However, we just received a perfectly marvelous 35 cm ostrich Birkin in what appears to be unused condition (the plastic was removed and the owner didn't keep the box). If you are looking for a special Birkin in an exotic skin that is neutral without being boring, then ring our bell!

MENAGE A TROIS

If every blog reader lived in LA and came to visit us at Decades, you would have a field day watching us prepare our recent acquisitions. From important American Couture from the late 1940s to 1950s (Traina-Norell, Sarmi and Irene, are among the designers we have recently purchased) to more 1970s jersey pieces by Sant Angelo and Scott Barrie, plus a slew of 60s bright mod day dresses from Cardin and Trigere, we are photographing everything, meticulously restoring as necessary and spending a lot of time schlepping between the dry cleaner and Decades to get them in the type of condition you have grown accustomed to at Decades. We will continue posting all these items in the next two weeks as we are not robots, but we wanted to get a few of the recent Hermes Birkins on the blogs to satiate all the inquiries as of late.

We are keeping this post simple. Pictures and a brief description underneath the photos. All bags are unused and come with everything you need (locks and keys are there regardless of if they are visible in the photos). Remember, we are Decades and take pride in selling Hermes bags with integrity. Also remember, these aren't "beater Birkins" for a few thousand dollars. Consequently, when making an inquiry note that they are priced at fair market value for unused and desirable bags, but we don't gauge you like so many other sellers who double the retail value of bags.
