We rather love this Yves Saint Laurent ribbed lurex and sheer paneled tricot tres much! It's sexy, but it shows no skin. It's dressy, but it's not formal. It looks festive, but it's year-round attire. It's a knit, but it looks much more substantial than a sweater. It's from the late 1970s, but it looks totally 21st Century. Enough said.

BOLERO R US

Call us crazy but we are totally champions of the bolero. At Decades, we have a soft spot for boleros. When we combine that love with our soft spot for vintage Jean Louis Scherrer we are higher than a morphine drip. Let us explain why we love boleros: they are practical. You are going to a black tie and you need a cover-up that is functional and fun and you aren't in the mood for fur, you throw on a bolero. But boleros aren't just for Princess Diana-approved gowns. They are fab with a cheap and chic Sébastien Tellier for American Apparel sheer jersey scoop neck tee with an exposed bra and Elise Overland leather leggings for a rocker chic look. The velvet Scherrer Haute Couture bolero below is Lesage embroidered and reminds us of a men's cutaway jacket with the paillette enhanced collar. The Swarovski crystal trim and leaf motif pattern are very unusual and certain to entertain party revelers this festive season. We think our excitement for boleros is starting to excite our clients, too. While in Dallas this past weekend for our annual trunk show at fabulous Forty Five Ten, we sold two boleros the first day of the event!

IT IS AS CLEAR AS BLACK AND WHITE

Yes, it's true everyone loves chocolate as evidenced by the Chanel post below, but we are also mad for black and white. Bill Blass always designed great classic fashion that made his ladies look good enough to eat (like a chocolate bar). Think only of Nan Kempner and her retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art a few years ago, and all the Blass looked so tasty! Case in point: this black and white beaded scoop neck tee-shirt dress with feather hem. Black and white always looks modern but we are particularly fond of the white sequins blended with black woven circles in this very simple silhouette. Certainly it is made a little Showgirl-va-va-voom with the marabou feather trim thus rendering the dress cocktail or black tie (when a long gown isn't mandatory) as this evening dress is glamorous, effortless, and timeless -- just as Blass always designed his quintessential American fashion.

Who likes Chocolate?

Not everyone loves chocolate like we do, but when it is Chanel chocolate... Watch Out! We are pleased to present a classic Chanel quilted backpack. There are some minor issues on the bottom due to some light use. Mostly the issues are a bit of discoloration and some of the gold around the clasp has rubbed off. Besides that the bag is gorgeous! Just writing this post is making our mouths water due to the scrumptious color of this little treasure.

Have Chanel, Will Travel

Going on holiday this winter? We have two gorgeous carry-on bags that everyone on that plane will ogle as you saunter up the aisle. Now enough with the filler and on the the descriptions.

First we have an oversized Chanel tote with one central and two side compartments. The leather is a flat quilted black lambskin that has been perfectly worn in and is incredibly supple. There is a large CC closure that goes over the top, and two classic long gold chains with leather pads for shoulder comfort. This is the perfect size for a weekend away.

Next up is the Chanel carry-on in a stiffer briefcase style. This bag also has three compartments, one of which has two leather belted straps to secure garments, papers, or a computer. The leather is the same flat quilted lambskin as the tote. There is a removable leather shoulder strap and a handle on the top of the bag. Both bags have little gold feet on the bottom and come with Chanel logo bag tags.

Both bags are lovingly pre-owned and are in good condition. We have just had the leather re-conditioned on both bags and although these bags were much-loved by their original owner, they are ready for a new owner to adore them, too. Certainly, these will not last very long here at Decades, so if you have always wanted Chanel luggage you might consider calling immediately.

Better than Black

Tassels are in, everyone wants them and nobody has them, except for us. We have two great Chanel tassel bags in neutral tones that go with everything. The first is a taupe color with long gold tassel zipper pull. The second bag is the same style but in a cream color that has an iridescent sheen. These are classic 80's Chanel bags that will bring a smile to even the most discerning of faces. And besides, everyone has a black Chanel bag, but how many have a iridescent cream one?

Bone IN

Not a fan of cream? Well good, because this bag is bone. This is a fabulous Chanel bone lambskin bag with bar stitching and the double CC logo on the front. The bag is used but has recently been refurbished. There is a gold ball zipper pull with long leather tassels and a long gold link chain.

Think Pink

From our little teaser post yesterday, we now give you the Full Monty. This adorable baby pink Chanel bag is lizard skin with the classic bar stitching design. There are some slight marks in the pocket where the pink has rubbed off (from our recent reconditioning of the bag) as indicated in the picture below. TRES BAROQUE

We have been amazed by how popular Chanel small clip on earrings have become at Decades. We can't seem to acquire enough vintage mini clip-ons to satiate demand. Normally we are all about long chandelier earrings, but the charm of these pint size earrings has really made sense as they are perfect for jazzing up your day ensemble. These rather ornate Baroque earrings have Maltese crosses inset along with brilliant Swarovski crystal diamonds. There's nothing dull about these pint size earrings and they sure pack a punch without taking much space. Purchased at Chanel in Paris back in 1984, the original owner never wore them and kept the box, tissue, ribbon and hang tag together for 25 years. If you seem dissuaded by the current Chanel costume jewelry which looks (and is) too plastic, these earrings show the beauty and ornate possibility in a pint size design from 1984.
