It's been about a month since Jean Paul Gaultier's last fashion show as Artistic Director for Hermes. After seven prolific years of this creative collaboration, the unforgettable partnership which included the introduction to the captivating shoulder Birkin (like the Bleu de Prusse shown below) will be part of fashion history. STYLIST WITH STYLE AND OUR FRIEND WITH BENEFITS!

Elizabeth Stewart works her magic with celebrities like Cate Blanchet, Kristin Davis, Amanda Seyfried, in addition to editorial jobs with every major magazine from In Style to this month's cover of Vanity Fair with Cher. We like to call her the stylist's stylist! Last night she attended the MOCA gala with her husband Rob Bragin and wore a vintage Paco Rabanne gold chain mail dress from Decades. She may work her magic on other style-setters, but she also knows how to look like a million bucks. The dress was heavy so we hope she doesn't have a hernia from it. Maybe that's why she was resting her head on Cameron Silver's shoulder? Anyway we love her style and she's a fantastic person, too.

The invitation said Festive Attire for Moca's gala last night and our dear friend Rachel Griffiths got it right in her vintage cherry red Lanvin-Castillo cocktail dress that just arrived at Decades and just as quickly went into Rachel's closet!

Although we have attended the famous Ethnographic Show in Sante Fe in the past, we are not experts when it comes to antique ethnic textiles other than we know what we like and we certainly like this! IT'S A 40

You know you want this and these are so hard to find! A Hermes Birkin in black Fjord leather with gold hardware that is 40 cm! Condition is quite remarkable and it appears to have never been used, although it is 10 years old. The plastic has been removed from the hardware but we really don't notice any flaws in the leather or gilt hardware. If you are craving a 40 cm in black with gold hardware and can't seem to find one on planet Earth then this is your bag. It is slightly less than buying a brand new one at Hermes when considering the tax, but it is more or less impossible to find one, so get with the program and buy this bag.

TWO HOTTIES BOTH IN VINTAGE FROM DECADES

Barbara Hershey is damn sexy in her vintage Gianni Versace LBD from Decades at last night's premiere of "The Black Swan", in which she co-stars with Natalie Portman. She has such an amazing body. Wowzy! Last week, we were doing a fitting with another actress when Ms. Hershey's stylist came in and said "I want that!" The actress in our dressing room relinquished the Versace and now Ms. Hershey is wearing it with great confidence. She looks outstanding. Jess Weixler won the Special Jury Prize in Dramatic category at the Sundance Film Festival for "Teeth" in 2007 and this independent film star has been working non-stop since. Last night, her new film "Today's Special" premiered in NYC and she wore the red silk crepe Bill Blass one sleeve dress that JUST arrived and she looks super chic!

THINK MINK

Revillon is one of the great old furriers founded in 1723. However, this mink and crystal/stud vest with suede trim was not made in 1723. It is pure late 70s Glam and we love it styled over a cream silk blouse with a pair of Decades Denim Martha jeans. It will become that piece in your closet that will make a dull day suddenly festive. For the Holidays, it is brilliant over a turtleneck with a pair of velvet jeans (the Nadja obviously). Wear it at the Little Nell in Aspen during Christmas and cozy up by the fireplace. Take it to Paris for a night out and wear it over a sexy LBD. Or just wear it at home with some sweats and feel ultra casual yet ready for an 11th hour invitation to do something fabulous! Justification isn't necessary when it comes to this purchase. Just a sense of style which you have in spades if you are a Decades Girl!

"Designers against AIDS: The First Decade"

In honor of World AIDS Day on December 1st, we would like to encourage everyone to check out the inspiring book Designers against AIDS: The First Decade. Millions of people worldwide are affected by this preventable disease and the reality is that everywhere HIV prevention and treatment programs are being cut due to insufficient funds. The Fashion, Art and Design industries are not willing to let his happen. With your help we can get closer to putting a stop to HIV/AIDS.

This amazing book is a celebration of pure beauty and lust for life. Over 100 photographers share with you their vision of beauty through images. For example, supermodel and icon Verushka sent Designers against AIDS her favorite photo to be printed, and a never-before published photo of Marilyn Monroe will be included. Part of the proceeds will also benefit the Designers against Aids Education Center. The book will be available at Amazon.com from November 18 and in selected Borders and Barnes & Noble stores. So let's work together to help save lives!

BILL BLASS IN RED

Original Bill Blass designs tend to fuse ladylike chic with a bit of pizazz. In other words, Park Avenue closets in the 70s and 80s were filled with his designs and the women who wore them were the social doyennes whose lives were chronicled by WWD. They were often photographed doing something fabulous and philanthropic in a Bill Blass dress. This cherry red one sleeve/shoulder Blass cocktail dress has a drape across the hip and is a hip design! Nan Kempner probably owned a similar dress, but we think a young actress could wear this and look totally modern. That's the beauty of a great classic design: it transcends time.
