Forget your plaid Burberry Mac, these coats are the answer to your Fall desires!

When I came to London for this trip, I thought I'd be wearing coats galore, shielding my slight frame from the famed London elements. However, all I have been doing is dying in the heat wishing I was somehow in a colder clime. Nonetheless, that hasn't stopped me from shopping for fall coats and unpacking my cold weather wardrobe. If you are like me you always decide that you need at least one new coat per fall/winter season. I think you will find that it must be one of these...

So you might have paint thrown on you, but tell them to wait a second before they fling the cobalt mess across park Ave. If you are an UES kinda gal you need to take it back to classic Christian Dior glamour. This 60s Zebra fur print coat will do just that. Obviously enough weight to keep you warm, its also enough to keep you noticed. Very chic touches abound, but the leather piping is just great. Such a stunner, very necessary, great purchase.

Or if you are like some of my friends and live by the motto 'black is always back' then you will find yourself drooling over this one. Thea Porter decided that sheer 70s elegance ought to live forever and with this 3/4 length coat it certainly does. Flattering and exotic, the coat is made mostly of black velvet but is trimmed with black mink. Where could you go wrong? Following the recent trend towards velvet and adding a touch of mature flair, this coat would look equally at home on the back of a hot 20-something or a refined lady of an un-disclosed age. SOLD

If you are a fan of the military revival and particularly the catwalks and billboards of Dolce and Gabanna, you are going to love vintage YSL Rive Gauche. Dated from the early 80s, this jacket is made of felted wool with velvet trim on the collar and cuffs. The buttons that run down either side of the chest are braided for that extra touch of detail and the over-all military style is not over the top but still suggests the stern, masculine idea. Sexy and feminine, what more could you want. SOLD

If you always want to borrow your boyfriend or husband's blazers, tailcoats and dinner jackets, and he is always getting annoyed with you, tell him there is a solution! It's designed by YSL Rive Gauche too. Dated from the 80s, you can be grateful that the huge shoulder pads were left off this one, while the broad shoulder and small waist power-suiting shape was kept. Its cropped to add femininity but is styled on a men's smoking jacket to add masculinity.

When its time for your annual trip to the Hermitage benefit in St. Petersburg you might decide a touch of Russian flair is needed. YSL Rive Gauche had a Russian an affair in the 70s and luckily Decades has got its hands on this tomato felted wool jacket. The velvet stencil detail and the trip and black jet button details are so cool. The slightly puffy shoulders, dramatic. The effect, worth a million dollars. SOLD
