ALIXE WITH AN E
Decades is never biased, only when it comes to our love of great 30s bias gowns. Sure we adore a Vionnet or a Boulanger, but we have recently fallen for Alixe...not Germaine Emilie Krebs (1903-1993), known as Alix Barton and later as "Madame Grès, but rather Alixe of Chicago. We previously posted a wonderful gown of Alixe of Chicago last month in the most divine pale pink charmeuse. This time, we have a slip dress in a golden silk with a slight train who's color is so distinctive and intoxicating that even if your hair doesn't have a single highlight, we are confident this dress will make your locks glow without an ounce of bleach or a slice of foil! Picture the dress with a pale shoe and your toned arms. It doesn't take much. Although the bias cut has been around for nearly 100 years, it remains the perennial evening silhouette to this day. There is nothing anachronistic about a bias cut slip dress. It is completely sensual and contemporary in the 21st century.
