ALAIA - THE GOLDEN TICKET

After the buzz that the much anticipated Alaia Haute Couture show in Paris last week generated, all the fashion world was reminded once again why we all bow to the genius of craft and sharp focus. As Cameron wrote on his review for the Huffington Post: "..look after look proved why Azzedine Alaia is a rare example of a designer who doesn't need to reinvent the wheel every season, but just make it more and more perfect".

We have always been great admirers of Alaia and so have been our faithful customers. It's very hard to keep an Alaia piece in the studio for long. They go as soon as they arrive but it's always a privilege to admire the work of a master from up close.

This two piece azur blue bodysuit and skirt from 1990, is an amazing testament of the craftsmanship that Alaia has developed over the decades. This very sober yet super sexy ensemble should be owned by a real woman who is not afraid to flaunt it!

Today is a great day for Azzedine Alaia. As reported today, Compagnie Financière Richemont is Azzedine Alaia's new fashion backer, since Alaia bought back his business from Prada a few months ago. Amidst a slew of Herve Leger posts for this week, we are delighted to propose a chic 90s design by Azzedine Alaia, the original King of body-conscious clothing.

This peach viscose-blend tank dress with a drop waist and pleated skirt is reminiscent of a 30s tennis costume but sexed-up for a modern and toned body. So, let's celebrate the genius of Alaia and his cash injunction, too!

Belt it

As you can see, we have a ton of Alaia belts. They are all for a small waist, only 65cm. give or take 3cm. There are three dark blue belts, one navy, and one white belt. The navy and white belts have a woven leather pattern. One of the dark blue belts has a rectangular cut out in the back, one has a hidden buckle, and the last has a bronze buckle and slats cut into the sides. ALAIA CENTRAL

This week we will be posting a wonderful collection of vintage 1980s and early 1990s Alaia dresses and belts in fantastic condition from a marvelously chic and friendly woman with awesome taste! Here is a preview of the first Alaia.

TAKE ALAIA AT THE BEACH

One of our favorite muses here at Decades, The glorious Anna Dello Russo (who's blog we adore), listed her 10 rules of beach and we can not think of better advice. When we received these three Azzedine Alaia bra tops we couldn't help but think of Anna's rules: 1.No JEWELS and No costume jewelry. Emphasize the nudity of the body,its shape, its perimeter.2.No matching bra with panties!
MIX COLORS as your taste
Alaia never follows trends, he keeps the constancy of seduction over trends. The simplicity is in the colors but the details on these pieces show your body in three different ways. These three Alaia options you can mix with colored bottoms for the beach or the pool or, be risky and wear them with a skirt for a night out dancing. -Eri

You Want It, We got It.

Alaia Belts. Possibly the most sought after of all the 80's accessories, Alaia belts are sure to make the most discerning of fashionistas go weak at the knees. The first is a gorgeous gunmetal with silvery stitching and black steel rivets. The second and third are classic Alaia cut-out belts: one in cream, the other in camel. We're going to end the post here. We figure if you're reading this blog you are well-versed in the historical significance of an 80's Alaia belt. If not, read THIS.

BAYWATCH

Just because this vintage Alaia is a red tank dress doesn't really warrant the comparison to Baywatch, but we couldn't help ourselves. Besides we are in an Alaia cloud. There is a lot of Alaia for us to photograph, price, and post, but we are not complaining. A large collection of Alaia is always cause to rejoice.

This red stretch cotton short dress is trimmed in black and white and the base of the dress has a 2" inch quilted panel that ensures a snug silhouette at the bottom, too. Hey, it's Alaia so snug is the operative word, n'est ce pas? Certainly, an admirer will be delighted to snuggle with you in or out of this Alaia.
