We Hate to See You Go, But We Love to Watch You Leave... in Donald Brooks

Looking to make an entrance? For most women, that means a revealing neckline or a high slit in the skirt; but as Michelle Pfeiffer demonstrated in her iconic film debut, sometimes the most captivating feature is a plunging back. You'll achieve just that result with this Seventies stunner from Donald Brooks--especially if you have an elevator in your house. We're wild about the string halter collar and the wrapped waist... and, in case you didn't like the in-your-face symbolism of Pfeiffer's green dress, you can calm the flames of envy in an appealing hue of iris blue.

Bathing Beauty

Summer in LA is all about the hotel pool. Two personal favorites are The Roosevelt (an old Hollywood classic) and the London in West Hollywood. If you are planning on going to a hotel pool in LA you had better put your best suit on. The Pucci swimsuit below is perfect for a day poolside sipping raspberry mojitos. The light weight material will dry very fast ( if you're a water baby) or just relax in a lounge let yourself get noticed.

SOUTHERN COMFORT

When reviewing the photos of this brown Hermes Kelly, notice the last shot which features the enviable Hermes Made in France stamp along with a gold "square." You may ask yourself "what is this gold square all about?" and I will happily let you know that it represents the type of exotic skin that has been used for this Kelly. A gold square = Alligator mississippiensis = American Alligator. Florida and Louisiana have the largest population of alligators, but Hermes probably has the largest selection of their skins or I should say, the largest selection of flawless skins! That's exactly what this bag is: a stunning and seemingly flawless 28 cm brown alligator Kelly with gold hardware. Guaranteed to never go out of style and inevitably to appreciate in replacement value, this bag will bring you decades of joy. -Cameron Hermes 28 cm chocolate Kelly in alligator with gold hardware, B stamp for 1998. Plastic still on much of the hardware! SOLD For additional information, please email blog@decadesinc.com or call + 1 323 655-0223. I HOP

Hello Cyber Friends of Decades, I really wish you were all here with me in SoCal enjoying the sunny weather and plethora of HOP (Hermes of Paris) that we just received. A black Jypsiere; a black 40 cm boxed Kelly; and two divine large travel 50 cm Birkins (black and gold). I wish I could take one with me to Chicago tomorrow for our Pop Up but my priority is taking care of our beloved clients. So, follow this blog carefully or come visit the store and see the goodies in person. And if you are in CHICago, I do hope you will POP by our POP UP! Getting ready for the cold... -Cameron

80 and Sunny

I just went went for a walk, and the weather here in LA is perfect; 80 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze from the west. It makes me long for a weekend in Palm Springs, lounging by the pool, draped in Pucci and sipping a Mai Tai.

And when the sun begins to fade behind the mountains that cradle your perfectly modern Neutra house, and a breeze whips across the pool, you reach for a cover-up -- not just any cover-up, a Pucci cotton tunic with a vibrant gray and pink geometric pattern. It is the perfect piece to throw on for that cocktail hour before everyone sits for dinner. *Daniel*

Not a Kelly or Birkin girl? Don't fret; Hermes makes a bag for everyone, and this Victoria bag must go home with one of you lovely blog readers! Egg Hunt

If you are not the pastel type, this little black Chloé shirt-maker dress is a fantastic alternative. It is made from a very lightweight silk with a multi-color circle bead pattern in vertical lines all around. The bottom of the skirt is pleated, giving the dress a fun flirty kick when in motion. Peep Perfection

My favorite Sunday of the year will be upon us soon (no I am not the biggest fan of the Super Bowl), Easter! How could you not love a day devoted to coloring eggs, playing Hide-and-Seek, pastel dresses with large brim hats and drinking before noon! This fantastic baby pink chiffon Sarmi dress is exactly what a hostess should don on Easter Sunday.

This dress is layers and layers of pink chiffon with a pink silk lining. The dress is tied off with a pink satin bow just under the bust, creating a perfect empire waist. The bust is covered in pink feathers; very Easter appropriate! Now, grab a peep martini (pictured above) and make sure all those sugar laden children running about know that mommy has an invisible barrier 5ft. around her pretty pink dress. *Daniel* Sarmi pink chiffon empire waist dress with satin bow and feather bust, c.60's. YOU CAN STILL WEAR FUR

It may be officially Spring, but I am in layers in Los Angeles. I imagine many of our friends in other destinations (thinking of the East) are dealing with much colder weather so how about an I. Magnin 1960s mink vest/mini? Remember when Prada did the rather pricey mink dresses a few seasons back? Well this one is just as chic and much more affordable. Wear it with a thin cashmere turtleneck and boots when it is extra chilly. Or bare with a pair of sexy Loubs for a fancy cocktail look. The dress may have hidden pockets in the front and hook up the back, but I think it is cool to wear this back-to-front with the hooks open as a luxe vest. A mink mini may seem extravagant, but the way I have described this, it seems totally practical! -Cameron I. Magnin mink mini with hook closure up back and hidden front pockets, c. 1960s. Flexible size 4 to 6 SOLD

I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRAN

I fell in love with each and every Balenciaga gown at Hamish Bowles' beautifully curated exhibition at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Read my blog post on Style.com from the opening night gala. I wore a very Spanish-inspired vintage Lesage embroidered vest. Christine Suppes was stunning in her Eisa from 1950 and my favorite photographer Frederic Aranda flew in from London.
Marissa Mayer found her Cristobal Balenciaga at Decades by Googling Balenciaga!

IN THE SPIRIT OF AN ICON

We will also miss the great Elizabeth Taylor. Not only was she a phenomenal actress, but she was a revolutionary activist. She will be remembered as much for her many legendary performances as she will for her commitment to philanthropic causes and her unwavering fight for AIDS/HIV research and compassion. Looking at the many iconic photos of Dame Taylor over the decades, we are also reminded of her style legacy. She famously wore designs by Helen Rose, like the white chiffon dress above, designed for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The dress below was designed by James Galanos and is reminiscent of the famous Helen Rose dress (chiffon, sleeveless, tight at the waist and full at the skirt). A charming layered floral print of orange, yellow, and green flowers, this is an ideal dress to celebrate the first week of Spring and pay tribute to the incomparable Elizabeth Taylor.
