We cannot promise that your wedding will be perfect, or that your marriage will last, but we can promise that you will be the envy of brides everywhere in your Christian Dior wedding gown. If any of you loyal blog readers have seen a little film called "Funny Face," think back to the wedding dress featured at the end of the movie. The dress was not created by Dior, rather it was designed by Hubert de Givenchy. We mention this because the dresses are quite similar and were created in approximately the same year. While Hubert was working on Funny Face, Christian was showing this little number in Paris. And now . . . onto the dress
The bust of the dress is fashioned in vertically pleated white tulle. Below the bust is a ruched swath of black tulle that wraps around the waist and is finished in the front with a black satin bow. In back, two large sections of black tulle cascade toward the floor. The skirt is gathered white tulle with an ivory satin lining.
This is an absolutely stunning dress that could be a great wedding gown or the ideal option for a black tie affair. And you will sure to be the belle of your ball in vintage Christian Dior from 1958.
Christian Dior Boutique, 1958. Contemporary size 4 with room in the bust. SOLD (to a newly engaged dear friend of DECADES! Congratulations "N")
