LEATHER AND LACE

It was Paris. It was during the Spring/Summer 1987 collections. And this very dress was on the runway. How do we know this? This is the actual Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld leather and lace dress modeled and is marked SAMPLE. The original owner was very lucky to score such an iconic and edgy rock 'n roll creation of leather and lace. Now that isn't a combo one normally associates with Coco Chanel, but Kaiser Karl brilliantly manipulates leather (used so often in Chanel accessories), gilt buttons with a wheat motif and double interlocking Cs (used so often on Chanel boucle suits), and lace (which Mademoiselle Coco used to make sublime evening gowns nearly 100 years ago). Throw it all together and Coco goes Downtown and we want to follow the hottie wearing this dress anywhere she's going because you know it's going to be fun.
