PAQUIN NO 39584

The first woman to own an eponymous Haute Couture house was Jeanne Paquin in 1891. She left her House in 1920 and it continued through 1956, under various artistic directors. This satin evening coat with collar and ample sleeves with fantastic seam details is from around 1950 and represents the last years of the House of Paquin. Evolution of fashion brands is always fascinating and Paquin's fame rivaled that of Worth and Doucet in her day. This may not have been designed by Madame Paquin, but the label bears her legendary name and the style is thoroughly modern. Bring on the turtle neck and skinny jeans. Wear her over a cocktail dress to keep you elegant and warm. Better late than never.
