ULTIMATE BRIDE

June is just around the corner, and if one is planning a shot gun wedding, then be the ultimate bride in this 1961 Cristobal Balenciaga Haute Couture gown that may trump any Vera Wang option. Decades has been fortunate to have access to a great collector's closet that we have been sharing with our clients and blog readers over the past few months. This collector owns the majority of the Norell dresses we have been posting (more are being restored and will be revealed shortly) as well as the March posting of the now sold LBD by Balenciaga.

This blue Chantilly lace trimmed grand strapless gown of cream silk with a nipped in waist and full skirt is tastier than a wedding cake. Like a Mantilla on a Goya Goddess, the blue lace trails down the back of the gown, in a clear reference to Balenciaga's Spanish roots. The dress has been expertly cleaned by our beloved Effrey's, but 60 year old cream silk has its slight imperfections which may be limiting to some clients. For serious inquiries, we are delighted to go over the condition of the gown with precise photos.

Certainly this gown is not limited to a bride. Its only limitiation is your social schedule. This is not a gown for pool side drinks, but for an audience of titled VIPS with a tiara here and there. The wearer of this Balenciaga will certainly feel like a Princess.
