LADY LIKE SARMI

We've always had a soft spot for Sarmi. When we find a great one, they always sell and certainly we found the mother lode of Sarmi several years ago when we bought most of his abandoned archive and were delighted with the exciting and unexpected designs.

Many of our avid blog readers and clients have become aware of the large collection we continue to edit from a fashionable oil executive's wife who shopped the "decades" with her earliest pieces being from the 1950s; while her most contemporary pieces are from the 1980s. We continue to add pieces every week. Today we are showcasing a Sarmi cocktail dress and jacket from the early 1960s which was purchased at I. Magnin. Made of a gold and cream brocade, the dress is a classic early 60s fitted "Mad Men" silhouette. The jacket is a bit Auntie Mame with it's hourglass shape, dramatic chocolate mink trim, and over sized pearl buttons. It reminds us of something Dolce & Gabanna might show on the runway these days. The jacket would look great with a pair of jeans dressed down, too.

If texture tempts you, this ensemble fits the bill.
