From Jean Paul Gaultier's Haute Couture collection of Summer 2004 titled "LES SAMOURIAS", is this spectacular gauze-chiffon peasant blouse with cafe au lait crepe pants. Originally modeled on the runway by Yasmin Warsame in an editorial-friendly version that was sheer and shown with a long skirt, this Couture client took advantage of her relationship with JPG and added a few layers to the blouse to make it more wearable. She also had the pants made as an alternative to the skirt to make this more accessible yet still dramatique.
I am really feeling JPG as of late. Perhaps its the current retrospective happening in Montreal; or my intuition that the House will have a renaissance since M. Gaultier no longer has distractions of additionally designing for Hermes, I am seeking more JPG for Decades. It may just be own nostalgia, as I wore JPG purchased on sale from Maxfield in the 1980s and only wish I had kept everything. Lesson learned.
