What's the famous expression? "What came first: the chicken or the egg?" We suppose fashion designers might first drape a dress and then sketch it? Or, they may sketch first and then a prototype is developed. Creativity is a mysterious process and it yields extraordinary results. The Halston draped and ruched black jersey one shoulder "mermaid" dress below is from Resort 1982. We have included the sketch of the dress and a great runway shot of the incomparable Pat Cleveland wearing this flawless dress when it first debuted nearly thirty years ago. A simple spaghetti strap, tied in a bow at the shoulder and some wonderfully sexy ruched jersey make for a perfect dress.
