BLACK BUT NOT BASIC OR BORING

Just because we are feeling black dresses doesn't mean we are feeling sober, boring black dresses. Rather, we love LBDs that are detailed, yet wearable; classic, but not monotonous; and sexy, but still appropriate. This Gianni Versace dress satisfied our stringent style requirements. Made of light wool crepe and trimmed in velvet, this LBD has a very clever shoulder treatment that reminds us of the recent Karl Lagerfled for Chanel medieval shoulder silhouette. The caped shoulders are augmented by a wool and velvet band that fits directly over and around the top of your arm. Versace's signature trapunto stitching is used subtly on both the velvet trim and wool crepe feature the technique. The body of the dress skims you, but is never skin tight, so it's possible to live a little in this dress. It's almost as Gianni is saying "have dessert" when you wear this dress.
