Last night nearly 1000 people lined up to attend the MOCA Los Angeles member's evening viewing of THE TOTAL LOOK: THE CREATIVE COLLABORATION BETWEEN RUDI GERNREICH, PEGGY MOFFITT, AND WILLIAM CLAXTON. I think the show is a blockbuster and it will hopefully tour around the world as it's an extraordinary study of the magic created when these three creative geniuses all joined forces to create incredible clothing and indelible images that are a integral part of 20th century history. The clothing is all drawn from Moffitt's definitive collection of over 400 pieces and I am thrilled to have curated this exhibit (it wasn't easy to edit the display pieces) and I encourage you all to come see it when you are in Los Angeles. As many of you may know, I have had a 15 year friendship with Peggy Moffitt and her late husband, photographer William Claxton. It was a dream of mine to do an exhibit that celebrated the clothing and images of the collaboration between these three iconic figures and I am overjoyed by the response and Peggy is equally elated! Thank you

Quite possibly my favorite design of Rudi Gernreich is this dress from 1975. In THE TOTAL LOOK, a series of variations from this collection are displayed including the jumpsuit version of the dress below. Everyone from Tom Ford for Gucci to the recent collection of Michael Kors have referenced this historic dresses. I hope you can see why I love it so much.
