Helen Rose probably designed one of the most famous dresses of the 20th century: Grace Kelly's wedding gown when she married Prince Rainer in 1956. That design has probably inspired countless brides-to-be and was surely an inspiration point for last year's memorable wedding attire of Kate Middleton. Ms. Rose was a two-time Oscar winning Costume Designer who was nominated a further eight times. Some of her most memorable costumes are for Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Incidentally, she designed Taylor's wedding dress to Conrad Hilton. In the late 60s she added couturier to her resume when she began her eponymous house. I love when we get a Rose design as it makes me feel particularly proud to be a Native Angeleno because this is the town that taught the world how to dream and Helen Rose dressed the players in the dreams as well as the dreamers. This lemon chiffon round neck and cap sleeve gown is figure flattering and has embroidery that reminds me a bit of a sari. Perhaps Rose was dreaming of a future Bollywood back in the late 1960s when she designed this sophisticated and camera-ready gown. Are you ready for your close up?
