DECADES HEARTS LORIS AZZARO

It's true. Decades HEARTS Loris Azzaro. I have always had a special affinity for this Parisian house of glamour that echoes the disco charge of Halston's American clothing (but in a French manner). A decade ago we sold Nicole Kidman the great vintage Loris Azzaro white fringe dress she wore to the New York City premiere of Moulin Rouge. Azzaro was not a very familiar brand to fashion lovers at that time, but the power of Nicole Kidman in a vintage Azzaro helped rekindle interest in the House of Azzaro and it has thus experienced a renaissance.
My dear friend Vanessa Seward has been an amazing Creative Director of Azzaro and successfully transferred and updated the historical codes of the brand and made them totally 21st Century, yet still with a respect for the past. Vanessa worked for Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel who is a magnificent manipulator of Coco Chanel's codes. That training shows why Vanessa is so good at Azzaro. Some of you may know I was the Creative Consultant at Azzaro with Vanessa for many years and we had a wonderful time and great success updating the brand and bringing amazing new clients and celebs to Azzaro.

So enough time reflecting! Let's get back to the incredible vintage design of Mr. Loris Azzaro and this signature dress with top of woven blue and silver Lurex chains applied in a scallop pattern. This was a technique that Mr. Azzaro made very famous. From the top of the shoulders to the elbow are long strands of the metal chains that attach to a ring of woven Lurex at the elbow. From there the metal chains continue down to a ring of the same Lurex fabric at the cuff. The cuff is finished with the same scallop affect as the top.
The skirt portion is an extremely light-weight, blue viscose jersey. Even with the chain and Lurex, this dress is very light and easy to move in. There are great historical photos of 1970s socials "partying" in similar vintage Azzaro dresses. Tina Turner moves better than anyone and often did so in Loris Azzaro. You may not be able to shimmy or follow the beat like the legendary Tina Turner, but I have a feeling if you put this dress on you may suddenly have rhythm! Let's Dance!
