FOR MOM

Naeem Khan built his US business down the block from where I grew up in Beverly Hills. In 1981, he opened his first American retail store on Rodeo Drive named after his mother, Riazee. The store became an instant hit and he relocated his business to New York City and Riazee became a successful brand of Made in India and Made for Glam embroidered dresses. Since 2003, he has had an eponymous label and we often see his creations on the red carpet.

The silver paillette and black bugle bead mini below was retailed at Saks Fifth Avenue in the 1980s. Now, I know this seems like the perfect New Year's Eve dress, but we missed that party by a few days. So how about the Grammys on February 13th? This is always the most complicated evening to choose "what to wear?" Everyone wants to look a little "alternative" and hip, but avoid looking like a train wreck and just sparkle in this sexy, sassy, sequin flash of silver. The black bugle bead graphic stripes are very figure flattering, by the way (they make you longer and leaner).

Naeem Khan Riazze silver paillette and black bugle bead mini for Saks Fifth Avenue, c. 1980s. Marked size M, flexible size 4 to 6 SOLD
