A BAG WITH A MEMORY

Rarely we veer off the "only vintage on the blog" policy. And those are the times when something special and luxe arrives at Decades. We couldn't resist this Bottega Veneta Memory Cabat bag, a Limited Edition only sold at Bottega Veneta boutiques with a sterling silver plaque inside. The leather is filled with a memory form, which allows the bag to come back to its original shape after placing it anywhere or filling it out to over maximum capacity. It requires a lot more hours of hand work and four times more nappa leather than the usual intrecciato style, to create this beautiful, soft and durable bag. It is not cheap but as a very cool American lady who loves Spanish slangs would say: It's a ganga!!

Green As it Gets

Here at Decades we are all about being green. It doesn't get much greener than this Bottega Veneta bag from 1974. It is previously owned but looks brand new and is a deep shade of forest green. The design is very unique, it has a removable strap with a handle at the top if you want to cary it like a clutch. One side of the bag has an exterior attached coin purse and the other side has a snap closure pocket. Check out the origonal advirtisment in Vogue below.

A red bag is a lot like a bottle of red wine, once you find the perfect one its hard to go back to just any old bottle. It's Not a Purse, It's a Satchel!

We've recently posted several of our latest Bottega Veneta arrivals for your viewing, and purchasing pleasure! These purses are all great finds and even better additions to a chic summer wardrobe. This brown satchel is probably the largest of the Bottega's that we've received; meaning any girl in search of the perfect carryall will find this bag a functional treasure for the summer.

One interesting discovery we made are the straps can be lengthened, making this bag easy to carry on the shoulder. The minimal hardware is nicely understated in a oil-rubbed bronze. Extending from the hardware down each side is a self-faced metal closure that keeps all personal belongings tightly packed inside. Speaking of inside, the bag's interior has two sections--one lined with soft leather and the other lined with silk.

With the passing of winter and the start of warmer months comes the fading of winter blues. However, occassionally, the blues will follow us right into the swealtering heat of summer. Bottega Veneta, known for their unique leather-weaving technique, took a departure from the norm when they created this envelope style, tri-fold bag. Complete with not one, but two openings of varying styles (the back is a basic snap closure while the front features a tassel and pull type of closure). Bottega 4 Everyone!

Just a little tease for today, "when your own initials are enough" prepare for a feast of leather goods over the coming week. We will be posting several 80's Bottega Veneta bags in delicious, vintage jewel-toned hues.

Buy Bottega Veneta. We are proud to post three Bottega bags from the 80's. The company has been hand weaving (Intrecciato) leather goods since 1966. First in this threesome is an ivory leather clutch done in an uncommon herringbone pattern. There are two small internal pockets and two large divisions within the clutch. The leather has a fantastic patina, and is in immaculate condition both inside and out. Second, is an over-the-shoulder bucket bag in milk chocolate. The strap has two large gold balls on either end that are strung through gold rings on the bag. These gold details are not very common on Bottega bags, as they are known to be very understated. The last bag in the bunch is another clutch, this time in fawn. There is one large interior pocket that zips open and closed for added security. Bottega Veneta makes some of the finest, elegant and understated leather goods in the world. Every woman should have at least one piece in her collection.
