THE SUPREME DIVA

Diana Ross is everything to me.  As a boy growing up in our mutual hometown of Detroit, I was a fervent fan from an early age. When I was seven, I  implored my parents to go to Kentucky Fried Chicken five nights in a row, so we could collect box tops that went go towards the 4 album set of Diana Ross and Supremes Farewell concert! I’ve seen her live about 25 times, and in each show I am mesmerized by style, chicness and presence.  Happy Birthday Miss Ross!
-Christos

And to celebrate Diana Ross's glamourous style here are three Sant'Angelo pieces as spectacular as the Diva herself.

GET SEXY

It's been a little while since we've had a stretch gauze jersey Giorgio di Sant' Angelo, but when it rains, it pours as we have three of these sexier than thou dresses that are perfect for the gal on the go.  I love these for so many reasons because they are an alternative to the Alaia and Leger body-counscious booty-call dresses and these gem-hued wonders are lighter and less ubiquitous.  They are certainly still quite inspiring to many desigers, in particular Tom Ford.  You can wrap these up in a zip lock bag along with Irene Neuwirth earrings and stick them in vintage Judith Leiber minaudiere along with a pair of Atwoods and you will have all you need in the palm of your hand. for a night on the town.

Giorgio Sant Angelo

Around 15 years ago, I was at the Pasadena City College flea market and I found a similar Giorgio S'ant Agnelo multi color jersey dress for $25.  I did not pay $25 dollars for this dress and it sure isn't 1997 anymore.  Those were the good old days.  Alas, this ultra sexy dress is as wearable today as it was in 1997 or when it was designed in the 1970s.  In primary shades of green, yellow, purple, red, and black, this stretch jersey dress has a delicious decollete, bare back, and a car wash skirt that is begging for Angelina Jolie's leg.  This dress is perfect for those staying on in the South of France and are yacht surfing post Cannes.  Perhaps this is the ultimate sexy dress for the summer to be worn barefoot and somewhere fabulous.  Just roll into your Moynat overnighter and go-go-go.

Giorgio Di Sant'Angelo Swimsuit

Have you seen the Giorgio di Sant'Angelo retrospective currently up at the Phoenix Art Museum? I am sure it is wonderful and I hope I can escape before it before it closes in February next year. I love how varied the Sant'Angelo styles are from Gypsy and Native American inspirations; to stretch body-conscious jerseys; to wraparound gauze dresses that could be worn a multitude of ways; as well as, glitzy crystal confections. So often, the bodysuit was essential in a Sant-Angelo design. Body suits are so practical except when using an airplane bathroom. This black Lycra bodysuit has silver metal tiles placed in a diamond pattern. Now that Lady Gaga has made going bottomless acceptable, throw this on the next time you go shopping at Whole Foods. However, if you want to be a bit more complete, a sarong would be terrific with this. I would love it under a tuxedo, too. When all else fails, try this with a pair a jeans and silver hoops and metallic heels.

THE LAYERED LOOK ISN'T JUST FOR WINTER

Giorgio Sant'Angelo has a rather large oeuvre of designs ranging from 60s tie-dyed Hippie and Gypsy designs; to 70s Disco ready primary colored chiffon; to 80s Swarovski encrusted body-conscious stretch jersey. Sant'Angelo was an integral part of these three dynamic decades of fashion and this lilac layered crepe jersey day dress below is pure 70s minimalism packaged in a maximum of color. The construction of the dress features two coordinated layers of creped jersey attached at the top of the shoulders. That is the only place where they are connected so it feels like two layered dresses, although the top layer has an asymmetric hem that reveals the bottom layer. It all gets tied in together by the coordinating sash. So layers aren't just for winter!

A Rose by Any Other Name...

Giorgio Sant Angelo made this lovely little navy jersey dress. The simple shape is offset by an unexpected little detail on the bust. The bright pink rosette has two long bright green "stems" that fall down almost the entire length of the dress. Just about anything can be done with the stems. Tie them up and around the neck for a halter effect, to the sides and around the waist for a Empire waist, the possibilities are only limited by ones imagination. This is on of those simple dresses that can be worn without much fuss.

Well, apparently Padma Lakshmi has the answer! Padma purchased this wonderful Giorgio Sant Angelo jersey dress with white "tile" pailette pattern late last night as we were preparing to post it. A Vision in Chiffon

Two perfectly light and airy looks for summer, both in beautiful chiffon prints. The first is a Giorgio Sant Angelo chiffon dress with suede details on the shoulders and around the waist. The marble effect-print on the chiffon is floral in shades of white and pink. The sleeves reflect the sharp pointed details in the suede detail on the shoulders, and have a shredded appearance. The second dress is an Ossie Clark design with a Celia Britwell multi color squiggle print on chiffon. The dress has a high waist, puff sleeves, and ruffles to the bodice from which fall looped streamers of chiffon. Great for an elegant summer affair where heat is a consideration, these dresses will keep you chic and cool in the summer sun.

Sexy Sant' Angelo

Picture this: Cindy Crawford on the set of a Herb Ritts shoot for Vogue circa 1989...what would she be wearing? Probably one of these super sexy stretch gauze dresses with long straps that can be tied in all different combinations. The best thing about this dresses...tie 'em up in a ball, throw them in the bottom of your 40 cm Birkin and when the moment is right, just stretch one over your body, step into 110 cm Louboutins, a splash of something seductive, some big and bold jewelry, and you will be a head-turner!

Giorgio Sant' Angelo 1980s stretch gauze dress both marked size 1 or equivalent of size 2-4 modern. Black. SOLD

Giorgio Sant Angelo

I know at least here in LA, all you music lovers have already begun thinking about your Coachella outfits, where you will be staying and which parties you are going to attend. I also know that you all all know about the high stakes fashion competition that is the VIP lounge at Coachella. That said you don't want to be the one strolling around in your American Apparel shiny tights and tees. You want to be the one strutting in vintage glamorous clothing appropriate for a music festival but still fashionable.

So take in your weekender this Giorgio Sant Angelo, 70s, folkloric mixed media and print sun dress. With full bell sleeves and sweeping skirt this is hippie child at its best! The chest is open and sexy, but tie a flower in your hair and some adorable leather sandals and you go from sex-pot to beauty in the sun just like that. Sized as a contemporary 4 US. SOLD
