KATE THE GREAT

No matter what she wears, she captivates. She is not driven by trends, she creates them. The skinny jeans, the boho chic tops, the flat boots, the vests, the denim cut offs, and the famous retro sequin dresses, Kate Moss has inspired and continues to do so. It is her cool attitude and innate style that make her different and definitely a style authority. She has inspired many artists and photographers as well and that is what Christie's is celebrating, a collection of art inspired by Kate Moss which goes on live auction on September 25th. With photographs from Craig McDean,  Chris Levine and Allen Jones, Kate Moss has been captured by many artist creating striking images. Like the Asher Penn photographs of Kate Moss that are featured in our latest windows at Decades created by the amazing Jeff Snyder and Jarred Cairns. The art pieces come to us from Cameron Silver's personal archive and they will be on display at Decades for a limited time. Cameron too is a Moss fan and inspired by her coolness.

RED BULL

Truthfully, a wide red croco belt by Judith Leiber can save the day...or at least your outfit.  The power of a bold accessory like this versatile and adjustable belt from the 1980s means whatever you are wearing that may have been basic is suddenly transformed into something ballistic.  I don't advocate boring or basic, so put a belt on it!

HANGING OUT WITH AN ICON

It was such an honor to moderate a panel discussion with legendary handbag designer Judith Leiber (she's 90 and doesn't she look incredible?) and the President of Judith Leiber, the fabulous Mary Gleason, at LACMA on 18 May 2011. I have always encouraged our clients to choose vintage Leiber and the minaudiere below is a wonderful example of the incomprable and talented Judith Leiber. It doesn't require a lot of description as the photos expertly showcase this Swarovski crystal delectable right of passage for any fashion lover's collection.

Doubles or Singles

An elegant black clutch is a staple that every woman should have on hand for that last minute black-tie affair. Below we have to fine examples from Judith Leiber, one with an unexpected surprise. The first clutch is black lizard skin with a black Swarovski encrusted clasp. This is the smaller of the two bags, but it will easily hold credit cards, lipstick, and a cell phone. If you drop your keys or lose an eyelash, just whip out your trusty magnifying glass and have a look around. The second black patent leather clutch is really two clutches in one, plus an optional strap. You can fit the makeup in one compartment with a phone, wallet and mace in the other. When your hands get tired of holding the bag just whip out the strap and dance the night away. Moroccan Fantasy

Don't you ever get an undeniable yearning to drop all the stress in your life and run away to exotic Morocco. A typical day involves cruising the sea off the port of Casablanca, sipping wine and munching on delicious Zucre Coco, their ever-so-sweet coconut fudge cake. All while lounging and taking in the beautiful scenery... a girl can dream cant she!!


A trip like this might not happen in the near future for all of us, but at least we have this Judith Leiber waist belt to keep our fantasies aflutter. MISSED THE DRESS SO BUY THE BELT

If you are cursing your computer because you missed the divine Halston champagne gown we posted earlier, we say "Snap Out of It!" and grab this vintage Judith Leiber gilt link Deco clasp belt that can brighten any ensemble. The semi-precious stone clasp is a great accent against the simple gold link that can accommodate various hips and waists. Speaking of waists, don't waste too much time contemplating the virtues of this belt. Like it's predecessor (the Halston that dare not speak its name), this one is bound to find a new waist very quickly!
