INNER SHOWGIRL

Marc Jacobs bid Louis Vuitton adieu with a dramatic collection of showgirl and flapper goth dresses with bugle bead, crystals, and jet beads aplenty.  This was the collection for the showgirl in every woman...or man.  The authentic 1920s flapper dress below was previously owned by a 92 year old woman who now lives in Montecito.  She purchased in the 1950s while living in Chicago and wore it on many glamorous occasions.  How cool that this fashionista embraced vintage in the 1950s?   This effortless sheath of decadent handiwork is the time of garment that nearly 100 years since it was first made, remains relevant and inspirational in the 2013.  Get your glam on and find your inner showgirl.

THE BEST FLAPPER DRESS EVER

I don't need to get too descriptive other than confirm that this is the best authentic Deco flapper dress I have seen at Decades in the fifteen long years since we have been making you look sexy.  Sexy this is: a deep plunge of black bugle beads trimmed in crytal "glitzy" strass.  The more daring of you can lose the modesty chiffon panel across the bust and dance the Charleston or whatever the kids are doing these days all night long.

DAISY BUCHANAN APPROVED

Not unlike the color of a meditative running stream in the backyard of a great Long Island estate at sunset, the vert l'eau color of this Anonymous 1920s dress is ready for the Daisy Buchanan in every Decades client who wishes to live her American Dream in a Great Gatsby fantasy fashion moment. Composed of a classic flapper silhouette that adheres to the natural shape of the body without clinging to it, the distinctive sea foam color is further enhanced by delicate bead work across the neckline and a more dramatic pattern with the addition of ruby colored stones on the skirt portion. A guaranteed classic addition to any closet, the extraordinary color and excellent condition of this nearly one hundred year old dress will be the talk of the room when you enter -- and trust us, they talked about this dress with a Daisy Buchanan-type walked into the room wearing in nearly a century ago...they're still talking! Perfect for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic Los Angeles next month, no?

FLAP YOUR TROUBLES AWAY

Feelin' blue? Throw on this fabulous flapper dress of black jet and paillettes on a light black net and flap those troubles away. Flappers had fun and so should you! This pointed hem and revealing sides makes this a dress for celebrating. It would be perfect for the Girl on the Go attending Monday night's Costume Institute Gala as The Flapper is one of the archetypes of the show and the savvy shopper will take this nearly 100 year old dress and make it look modern and stylish with a pair of very current runway shoes, perhaps by Balenciaga. The juxtaposition of old and new insures that the American Woman and her style will never go out of style.
