NINE WEST CAMPAIGN

Hitting stores today is my new Nine West collaboration and I had the best time styling Alexandra Spencer of 4th and Bleeker in great vintage clothing from Decades.  The collection was inspired by 80s punk icons, but we wanted Alexandra to look totally modern.  And we did that by interpreting great vintage from Decades along with some Alexandra's personal clothing and my partner in fashion crime, Kate Ciepulch, and her perfect blazers she designs for her label Laveer.  You can own some of the looks from the campaign if you click on the links below!

BODY-CON HERVE LEGER

The Herve Leger house was founded in 1985, now known as Hervé L. Leroux, at about the same time that Azzedine Alaïa was also experimenting with the borrowed-from-the-Egyptians technique. It was an absolute success and a staple silhouette of the nineties. Even after Max Azria purchased the brand in 1998, there have been few changes in the design aspect of the brand. Azria understood that the best way to reinvent a classic is not to mess with it all that much. This chocolate colored body-con dress comes from the time when Mr. Leger himself was designing, and as the master knows best, very little has changed with the famous Herve Leger dress. This dress is as simple as is spectacular. The color will look richer if accessorized with gold jewels, especially something costume from Chanel from the same period. Wear it with confidence and as is the case with all Leger dresses, flaunt what you got.

JUST BECAUSE

The right women always look right-on in the right Herve Leger dresses.  They are incredibly sexy and the vintage pre-BCBG designs have a cache as they were Made in France and certainly an essential minalist meets sexy 1990s staple.  The first dress is in a melon mint with duo-pyramid straps.  The second dress is they long sleeve red with a seductive scoop back.  I love these dresses because they delivery a lot of sass in a small package.  Easy for travel, simply accessorise with statement bling and shoes and you are pretty much set for almost any occasion.  And if there are a bevy of beauties in current Leger just remind them that you are in the original by the master of bandage dressing, Herve Leger!  He may have lost his name, but he sure hasn't lost the power of stretch.  Like a spank that will get you a spanking (if you want one)!
Happy Labor Day weekend.  I will be off the blog until around the 14th for Versailles '73 promo and New York fashion week, but be wise and follow me on Twitter and Instagram.  We can get to know each other this way and I love a good interaction...

GET SPRINGY WITH IT

Well, we're mid-way through March, which means that April is shortly upon us, which means that Spring is officially here. We've moved the clocks back; it's lighter for longer and warmer day by day. I can feel the luxurious sun on my face as I write this (kind of, my window actually looks out onto a covered courtyard, but work with me).

Warmer weather means it's time to put away those chunky dark knits and break out the bold, bright hues as well as flirty dresses that show a little skin. So, the online team picked their favorite Spring dresses and just posted them online today.

And of course, they picked pretty pieces from the likes of Missoni, Balenciaga, and Chloe in Spring colors such as Creams, Greens and Marines. Personally, I've got my eye on a sky colored Herve Leger number. Now, it's just time to get out in the sun and work out in the sun so it will fit.

RED CARPET TRANSLATED

Sunday night was a smashing good time. I don't know about you, but I had a blast at several Oscar parties and am still enjoying the thrills a girl gets from eye-spying the fashion parade on the red carpet. And, while I wish I could wear a ball gown every day, formal attire might be a bit much at say, Trader Joe's.

So, I was talking trend-spotting on the carpet with the gang at our online team and we thought it might be fun to post pieces online that were inspired by what we saw at the 84th Academy awards. Our top five favorite trends: Red Hot, True Blue, Winter Whites, Silver Medals, and Disco Queen (read sequins from head to toe). Want to get the best of Oscar glam that works from the boardroom to the bar from all your favorite designers including Balmain, Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel® and Hervé Leger? Click here!

GOING GAGA FOR GAGA

Ok, ok . . . it's not like we're suggesting that you run out and buy a dress made out of meat or anything like that.

But, with Valentine's Day right around the corner, it doesn't hurt to snag a play or two out of Lady Gaga's fashion diaries. And again, it's not like we're suggesting that you rock a leather bathing suit to dinner at Gjelina either. But, you've got to admit Gaga's got something. After all, Thierry Mugler did tap mini-Madge to strut her stuff down his runway and if Mugler's on your team, then we're betting our bottom dollar on ya.

Though we can't quite put our finger on what we love so much about Gaga--maybe it's her fearless fashion sense or the way that she favors mostly black body-con clothing or maybe it's the way she injects humor into her sartorial sensibility--all we're saying is, why not rock a little Leger number or a fab Ferre frock on February 14th and bring the sexy back?

Wanna get Gaga's look? Here's a sample of pieces we pulled that evoke the precocious pop star.

Vintage Gianfranco Ferre black knit dress with golden metal bar cuffs.

Vintage Claude Montana asymmetrical black skirt with mesh hem.

Raphael Young black suede and gold crackle leather platform boots.

Valentino black leather rosette handbag.

Bound in Blue

Herve Leger is one of the most iconic designers of the 90's, and his bandage dresses are the stuff of legend! Below we have a classic bandage dress in an amazing shade of light blue (perfect for spring).

If a simple chiffon day dress in pastels does nothing for you, the Herve below is the perfect alternative this season. The top portion is the classic thick bandage material that hugs the body oh so snugly. The skirt begins just below the hips and is a lightweight jersey that looks stunning when in motion.

Little Red Dress

There aren't many women who can say they own an original Herve Leger Couture dress from the height of its moment in the late 80's. But today you can be one of the lucky few, thanks to this sleek and ultra sexy figure-hugging new arrival. Each Herve that comes into Decades has to be special. And what's more fantastic than a classic red Leger Couture dress?

Each bondage strap comfortably molds to fit that figure you've been dying to show off, while the spaghetti straps sit comfortably on you shoulders creating a feminine and elegant look. So say goodbye to that LBD because red is the new black!

DON'T WHINE IF YOU FIT IN THIS WINE

For the Decades girl who is svelte enough to fit in this wine Herve Leger Couture bandage dress, there is nothing to whine about. Let the admirers pine for you when you wear this figure-hugging gown and let the jealous folk whine in envy when they see you working your magic in this criss-cross back gown with low plunge and fluid skirt - a celebration of all things sexy!

THERE IS NO SIZE TAG BUT JUST THINK EXTRA SMALL!

Herve Leger dresses are very dependable. They always look sexy. They always suck you in. They are easy for travel. They never go out of style as long as your body doesn't go out of style. Etc. However, there are Herve dresses and then there are Herve Leger Couture dresses from the late 1980s and early 1990s such as the eggplant beauty below. These dresses cannot be duplicated today. Herve Leger by Max Azria offers great affordable versions of Herve Leger's original bandage designs, but Couture is Couture and this is the real deal. Labeled Herve Leger Couture somehow the size tag is missing which means TINY! The eggplant bandage top attaches to a divine mousseline tiered hand-finished handkerchief hemline skirt. The combo of the ultra sexy and severe top with fluid and feminine bottom makes this Herve Leger extra special. The caveat is you better be narrow rib caged as this is one wickedly narrow dress that requires a wickedly petite and elite physique. We know that body exists within the Decades Student Body!
