TYING THE KNOT

As you already know we love stripes. This beautiful light and airy dress is a creation of Angelo Tarlazzi when he was Artistic Director at Jean Patou in the seventies. Angelo Tarlazzi became famous for his "kerchief" dresses, made of silk scarfs draped and knotted around the body in the form of a simple pareo. A bit of that technique can be seen in this dress, the tie in the back, the bias cut of two panels to create the skirt and the lightness when it moves. It is the perfect dress to take to an island, you can stroll in it during the day and go dancing at night.....tying or untying the knot.

Rose Red

A nice flowy silk number in a vibrant color is perfect for the warm season (which, here in LA lasts half the year). This Jean Patou red silk dress might seem like a simple red spaghetti strap upon first glance. But the back is a much different story! There are two red straps that cross the back and tie together, providing for a very sexy reveal. This is a perfect summer weight dress that is ingeniously constructed! *Daniel* Jean Patou red silk backless tie dress, c.70's Contemporary size 4. SOLD

CALLING TIPPI HEDREN

Back in May, we teased you with the original runway photo of this archival Haute Couture piece from Jean Patou by Christian Lacroix. This piece from Spring/Summer 1987 was never produced and only the original runway sample exist. When Patou's owners sued Lacroix, they claimed his last collection for the House was impossible to sell--here at Decades we know otherwise!

This cream taffeta gown is the most heavenly from the collection. Whether you're in search of a non-traditional wedding gown or you find a pristine Couture creation ideal for a formal soiree, this dress, formally titled "J'y songe," will work wonderfully. The crow featured in the original runway photo above (however, not pictured in our photos) is safely stored for you here in the Decades fashion closet.

MORE PATOU FOR YOU

We didn't get enough of the historic Jean Patou Haute Couture by Christian Lacroix archival dresses from Spring/Summer 1987 up on the blog because you guys just bought them from the runway photos! We appreciate you making our lives easier, but we do still have a few to post that haven't sold sight unseen, such as, this butter yellow taffeta pouf dress known as "Hawaii" aka Exit 36. As you know, the collection was never produced because Lacroix left Patou for his eponymous-house with backing by LVMH. Patou sued Lacroix, cancelled the collection, archived the samples, and CL took the pouf with him which became iconic at the House of Lacroix. Own an original pouf and a one of a kind example of Haute Couture!

SPRING SUMMER 1987

Locked up since 1987, these Christian Lacroix for Jean Patou Haute Couture dresses are now available at DECADES! Fashionistas will know this collection was never produced as the owners of Patou sued and won a six million judgement against Lacroix for breach of contract when he simultaneously received funding for his LVMH-funded eponymous house. These are all ONE OF A KIND. Detailed photos will follow in the next week but we predict many of these will sell just from their incredible archival runway images before we post additional pictures.

Patou for YOU

If an Easter garden party has you all in a tussle, wondering "what on earth am I to wear?" Here comes Decades to the rescue with Jean Patou in hand. This canary yellow day dress is made from a very light weight linen. The linen is light enough to keep you cool in the sun, but strong enough to keep its shape in humid conditions. There are large yellow buttons all down the back of the dress from the over sized collar to the pleated high waist skirt. Above is a photo of Lisa Rinna attending an event in the same Jean Patou dress.
