Once again, Decades is stopping traffic with our latest window designed by Jeff Snyder and "Dukes of Melrose" star Jarred Cairns.  We are honored to have received the archive of Ronaldus Shamask from his early 1980s collections with business partner Murray Moss.  Pieces below are part of the Amsterdam born Shamask's COTY Award Winning collection from 1981.  Shamask may not be the most familiar name to our clients, but I remember selling his designs at Theodore around 1987 when he won the CFDA award.  Shamask's aesthetic is extremely architectural with brilliant seaming that makes what at first glance appear to be simple but is really very sophisticated.  His fabrics are the finest natural linens and silks and although these pieces are nearly 30 years old, they are incredibly directional and modern.  Come visit us at Decades or take a peak at some of his linen pieces on our E-commerce site.

THE TERRIBLE INFANT

It's that time of the month for another window and Jean Paul Gaultier is this month's flavor. The construction was somewhat simple in thought and it ended up sweet and a bit rough around the edges as a result. The idea was to keep it minimal and let the clothes speak for themselves. Enjoy....

DUKES OF MELROSE

As if we haven't been beating you over the head with a scepter to announce the March 6th debut DUKES OF MELROSE on Bravo TV, there was much discussion about how we should promote the show within our actual storefront window.  Because we are Decades, we went subtle and sophisticated with Dukes and Duchesses.  Anywho, watch what happens on March 6th and PLEASE dress chic for the debut.  Our suggestions below are from Jacques Fath and Paquin.  Get the picture!

BLACK ISN'T ONLY FOR FRIDAYS

With Christmas barreling down on us who has time to do anything but shop, so don't stop now. Black on Christmas is as glamorous as you can get and look it goes great with snow. Could we give a big round of applause to Jeff Snyder for another beautiful window. It is always a pleasure to drive by the store in the evening to check the windows out and these are no different. Thanks Jeff...

YVES SAINT LAURENT THEN AND NOW

This month we are celebrating all things Yves Saint Laurent with our vibrant display of Vintage and modern YSL pieces.  Whether you find yourself gallivanting through the gardens of Marrakech in a silk chiffon caftan created by Mr. Saint Laurent, or making your grand entrance at one of the soon to be renamed Yves Saint Laurent boutiques in a Pilati jumpsuit or Ford masterpiece, the message from YSL is consistent.  Mr. Saint Laurent had an affinity for the essence of femininity, noting his subtle highlights of her features from backless couture gowns to the dramatic bows he would place along the neck and lower back to highlight the erogenous zones of his many adoring fans.  You will find one of a kind Rive Gauche Haute Couture pieces hand embroidered at Lesage and some of the last pieces of the era’s of Ford and Pilati adorning our shelves.  We invite you in to see the magnificence that is Yves Saint Laurent and pay homage to one of the greatest designers I had the privilege of working for.  While the house may be changing its name, it is clear from our beautiful collection that what was YSL and will always be Yves Saint Laurent will remain timeless and should find a place in your closet before one of our adoring collectors takes it home before you.

DECADES ON RODEO DRIVE!

Decades is finally represented on Rodeo Drive as we have installed windows at Stephen Webster's Via Rodeo Boutique featuring a Stavropoulos and a Mugler gown from your favorite store! A cocktail party last night feted the installation and you can view all the fun party pictures here. Jeff Snyder and Decades ICON Jarred Cairns art directed the windows and I love what they did.
FYI this may be my last blog post for the next 10 days since I am traveling to five countries in that many days, BUT Eri will be blogging like crazy so follow the site to see our latest acquisitions.
