THE NAKED BIRKIN

You've heard of the Naked Cowboy, but do you know about the Naked Birkin? This Hermes Birkin is raw! The ostrich hide appears to be untreated and in a natural state. In 21 plus years of Hermes-obsession, I have never seen a bag with this type of finishing. (My first Hermes ostrich purchase was an agenda that I bought in London around 1989. I still have it, of course). If any of you fabulous friends who follow the blog or visit the store know more about this type of treatment on ostrich skin, please share. The 25 cm Birkin is totally neutral and will match just about anything. The fifth, sixth, and seventh photos really show the color most accurate. It is not a gold, but much more pale. I imagine this bag would patina beautifully. So it's a naked Birkin with a do-it-yourself finish.

A note about Hermes and ostrich skin: According to our friends at Hermes, the production of ostrich skin handbags has been severely decreased by lack of high quality large skins. 35 cm Birkins are virtually non-existent at present. This bag was hardly used and comes from an avid Hermes collector who stored the bag for 7 years.

RARE BIRD

It isn't easy to find a 35 cm Birkin in ostrich skin. They are a rare bird of sorts, according to Hermes. However, we just received a perfectly marvelous 35 cm ostrich Birkin in what appears to be unused condition (the plastic was removed and the owner didn't keep the box). If you are looking for a special Birkin in an exotic skin that is neutral without being boring, then ring our bell!

BLEU DE PRUSSE PART DEUX

We have fallen pretty hard for Bleu de Prusse, one of the more recent Hermes colors in our favorite luxury rainbow. Although we recently sold a 30 cm leather Birkin in blue de prusse, now we are excited to showcase one in ostrich. It is fascinating how different the color looks in an exotic skin. See for yourself in the pictures below. We still have a 30 cm Togo leather Birkin to post and a 35 cm Kelly in a great bright green just arrived. These bags are selling fast so...act fast!
