CHANEL JACKETS NOT JUST FOR YOUR JEANS ANYMORE

I thought Keira Knightly was a beautiful bride wearing a Chanel jacket over her wedding dress.  I think it's a very modern way to do formal, also.  That is why I proposed the YSL gold lurex gown with this Chanel jacket in our previous post.  I just think it's very elegant and effortless way to get dressed up and a fresh alternative to a fur or the ubiquitous pashmina.  This 1960s Chanel Couture jacket (designed by Coco Chanel) has a wonderful shades of gold lurex zig-zag pattern and gilt rope trim.  Yes it's great with jeans, but it's also great over your gown, too.  Chanel jackets...not just for your jeans anymore.

THE COOL WAY TO WEAR BLACK TIE

I love lamé. Possibly because in the 1970s as a kid there was always disco in the background, lamé just seems as practical to me as flannel to a grunge kid.  This Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche sleeveless dress is pure gold lamé fantasy but isn't a product of the 1970s disco scene.  Designed for YSL's Winter 1991 collection, the shoulder-padded gown has three rope buttons on the left shoulder that repeat at the left hip, too.  There's an optional gold leather belt that the original owner wore with this gown, too.  I like the YSL styled with this 60s Chanel Haute Couture jacket (more info on that jacket tomorrow). Don't you think it's a very modern and cool way to wear vintage?  Although it's very vintage!

CHANEL REQUIRED

Do you own a  Chanel suit?  Now, do you own a Chanel Couture suit?  Next question, Do you own a Chanel Haute Couture suit designed by Coco Chanel.  If you answered "yes" or "no" to any of the above questions, you need this suit regardless!  Call me crazy but this is simply a stunning Chanel Haute Couture suit from the 1960s designed by Coco Chanel.  It's not a heavy wool boucle and is spring ready, but certainly festive enough for the winter.  The three piece ensemble includes an iconic jacket and skirt along with a matching tank. There are so many ways to wear this suit.  Naturally, as a total look it is the epitome of elegance.  Split it up and the jacket can be paired with jeans or the tank with short-shorts.  The skirt with a cashmere-silk Loro Piana twin-set makes these an essential for spring travel.  This suit can be-to-cocktail and with the touch of gold thread I rather love the jacket over a gown.  I even own a few men's Chanel jackets so get with the program and get this Chanel!

RED CARPET READY

We all agree that this has been the worst red carpet season ever with very few exceptions, Anne Hathaway in Chanel Haute Couture being one. Whether it is a matter of taste or obligations, the red carpet ladies have been un inspired this season. We at Decades always advise that when in doubt trust the master of classic elegance; Monsieur Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. This dress below is strapless light weight chiffon with a stunning pin; a blue Gripoix stone in the center surrounded by pearls finished off by three pearl 'pillars' and a jade stone. The suspended sleeves with a bow and slit, add femininity to this fabulous gown. It is timeless, sexy and the dark navy, that we love so much, is a great alternative to black. In perfect condition and red carpet ready!

BLACK AND WHITE OR BLACK AND PINK

This beautiful dress coat with a pink sash is as dramatic as it is classic. Upon the first look it could be a Yves Saint Laurent, or a Lanvin but this is Chanel Couture from the 60's. With Madame Chanel still living and very much involved in the business, the House of Chanel saw many designers come and go during this decade, up until 1982 when Lagerfeld was announced as the creative director for the Couture collections with Herve Leger heading the ready-to-wear. We are so programmed to black and white as the signature color combo of Chanel today, but there is nothing more classic as black and pink.   Chanel has been in business for over 10 decades for being very french and very classic.
If you are planning on going to an opera or any black tie event, look no further. This Chanel is what you should wear.

THE CHANEL OBSESSION

This is the year when Claudia Schiffer is appointed as ambassadress of the House of Chanel, and as Chanel had become a hot property so did she. This was the decade of the supermodels and truthfully Chanel's revival. There is no denying than there is a real Chanel Obsession, women collect it, adore it and they pass it on to the next generation. There is always the element of romance with Chanel as well which makes the perfect wedding dress, especially Chanel Haute Couture for all the brides who have a flare for the extraordinary.

THE HOT IN HAUTE

Sexy and Chanel have never really gone hand-in-hand in my fashion playbook.  Although Coco Chanel was known to have a healthy appetite for lust, her designs and those of Karl Lagerfeld tend to be tasteful, without being too titillating.  Well let me entertain you with this black gathered and draped jersey Chanel LBD that borrows a bit of wiggle from Marilyn Monroe's Ceil Chapman 1950s dresses plus a little 1980s Emanuel Ungaro classic styling too.  The dress can be worn strapless or with the strap as presented in the pictures below.  Imagine the surprise of fashionable admirers when you explain that your LBD is sexy and Chanel!  Oh and it gets better because it's HAUTE COUTURE.  So may I dare way that this Chanel puts the HOT in Haute.

A JOURNEY THROUGH THE WORLD OF CHANEL

Cameron Silver in Chanel photo by style.com

Cameron attended over the weekend the opening night of Numéros Privés: A Journey Through the World of Chanel is Las Vegas. He reported on this lavish affair on style.com.
We love all things Chanel, and it is exciting when a vintage piece comes by that is so different, yet feminine and classic like this two-piece ensemble with a passionate red and black floral print. The pleated silk gives the skirt a bit of a flounce and the top part can be worn entirely by itself.
Read more on Cameron's journey through the world of Chanel and remember to invest on your very own Chanel piece.

BUTTONS THAT ARE FUNCTIONAL AND FORM-AL!

Sometimes a button is a button. Sometimes a button is a piece of art, as in the case of this Chanel Haute Couture by Karl Lagerfeld blue layered and diamond quilted organza halter dress with Gropoix poured glass buttons. The multi-gem hued glass beads and faux-emerald sapphire buttons make this luncheon-to-evening dress extra intoxicating as the silhouette is young and flirty, while the sensual materials are manipulated into iconic quilted diamonds reminiscent of Chanel's signature handbags. Amazingly, the quilting doesn't bulk the body but remains light and slimming. The flirty ruffle hem of the skirt is a little lady while the sexy halter back is all woman. An indispensable alternative to the little black dress, this navy number will be your favorite number when it enters your collection of vintage Chanel that we hope you to curate! We love this for Cannes...

Lagerfeld Brings Sexy Back

Karl Lagerfeld did some amazing with Chanel in the 1980's, and this Haute Couture gown is a fine example of that amazing era. This simple black halter gown is a nice light weight black gazar. Below the hips is an amazing skirt of black gazar ruffles. The cut-out back is framed perfectly by two side straps that run straight across the shoulder blades. The movement created by the ruffles is stunning, and fit for any Summer gala, preferable one with a grand staircase.
