CIRE-IOUSLY THIS IS GOING TO CANNES

We keep looking for great Louisboulanger gowns as we adore this contemporary of the great Vionnet who also successfully worked with bias cuts and find that her gowns always sell to savvy women who love the sensuality of the bias. Boulanger is less known that Vionnet and she was drawn to unusual trim as evidenced by a nickel-plated bow fastener used on this shining example of her talents. Is there a season that passes that doesn't reference a bias cut on a runway? The answer is "no" so go seasonless and ageless and surrender to this cire (that refers to the glaze of the fabric) satin gown with flounced sleeves. Just for kicks we took a photo of the dress back to front (an Angelina Jolie trick!) and that could be an option for one looking to define her own design!

Louiseboulanger Haute Couture black cire satin bias cut gown with nickel plated bow, c. early 1930s. Modern 4 to early 6 SOLD AND GOING TO CANNES!

BAKELITE WE LIKE

Next week in Los Angeles, LACMA will debut the exciting Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion which will include an inaugural exhibition (one of the three debut exhibits) titled "Fashioning Fashion: European Dress in Detail, 1700 - 1915". This exciting gala evening is a masquerade ball and we are excited to see our fellow fashionable Angelenos and Angelenas dressed to the Nines and in some serious headgear! We are biased and suggest that Saturday September 25th might be a perfect evening for this Louise Boulanger black silk satin bias cut gown with divine deco red bakelite and strass buckle and shoulder clips. We do hope some philanthropic fashionista chooses this and wears it with a dramatic mask, but gowns like this sell fast, so if you are seriously on the hunt for your gala gown, call us FAST!
