Hooray Herrera

Do you need a LBD? This little black dress by Carolina Herrera is a classic. The dress is constructed from a very light weight black silk jacquard with a subtle snake pattern woven in. The neck is a crew in front, and a shallow V in back. There is a strip of fabric that wraps from the back to the front in a diamond shape that looks like a belt from a distance. On either side of the hips there is a jeweled bar that straddles the belt of fabric. This is a fantastic forties inspired little LBD that would be suitable for any black tie.

Carolina Herrera LBD with fabric attached waist belt and crystal embellishments. c.1980's. Contemporary size 4. SOLD

WHAT YOU WANT TO WEAR RIGHT NOW

Here are two very chic dresses from the 1980s designed by Karl Lagerfeld and Carolina Herrara, respectively. They are perfect for day (we mean you can wear these today!), but can easily transition to nighttime. They are also the type of dresses you can wear with tights and boots, so when it's cold outside, these dresses work well with layers. As you transition to spring (yes, spring will come...we promise our friends who are surrounded by less than ideal weather conditions) these dresses will again be perfect as they aren't too heavy and can be worn with bare legs and ballet flats, too. Karl Lagerfeld 80s mustard wool crepe shift mini dress with optional elongated jacket. Contemporary 4 - 6 SOLD

Carolina Herrera 80s wool mini dress with "Original Sample" label red v neck long sleeve bodice attached to heather grey mini. Modern size 4 SOLD

I HAD A BALL

We always love midnight both the color and the witching hour. Here is a wonderful gown that will bewitch everyone whether at 12 pm or 12 midnight. It's Carolina Herrera from the late 1980s and yes, we now consider some of Carolina Herrera's gowns worthy of Decades and vintage. We would like to commend Ms. Herrera for being one of the most elegantly dressed women for several decades. But now, we think your dresses are perfect for Decades and since your business was founded in 1980, Ms. Herrera has managed to design clothing that makes a woman beautiful. We commend you and welcome you to the annals of DECADES.

For our first Carolina Herrera posting we have selected a late 1980s blue velvet tee shirt dress that starts simply but attaches in a swirling dirvish on layered blue organza. And it all gets cinched at the waist with a trapunto stitched deep red sash. It's marked a size 8 and was originally retailed at Neiman-Marcus. It's the epitome of grand, elegant and as Ms. Herrera's parfum is called CHIC!

Carolina Herrera late 80s blue velvet and organza evening gown. Marked size 8, Modern 6 - 8 SOLD
