ENDLESS LOVE

All the eyes were on MOCA last Saturday celebrating its 35th anniversary. But as soon as the lights went out Diana Ross was at the center of the attention with a surprise performance. She has been an inspiration for Team Decades through the years and it never stops. From her amazing voice to her super glam outfits from Bob Mackie to Tom Ford, we are always inspired. It was emotional to see her in a bright red sequin gown perform "I'm Coming out" to a room full of artists. We continue to celebrate Diana Ross with these iconic looks. Click on the links below to purchase or email us with any questions.
The time has come for me
To break out of this shell
I have to shout
That I am coming out !!!

POST CFDA MUSING

I've been tweeting about the CFDA Awards and my concern that American fashion seems really sleepy compared to the vibrancy and diversity of European fashion at present.  If one were to review the winners of the CFDA awards over the last few years, one might think the US Fashion Industry is composed of less designers than fingers on my hands.  That being said, I really hope the important work of the CFDA is broadened and we return to the excitement of American fashion that was generated in the 1970s when American sportswear reigned supreme and our evening wear was a fresh alternative to the stoic Parisian Couture.  Think of this gorgeous John Anthony paillette long sleeve mermaid gown with mock neck and open back highlighted by an ombre skirt.  Norman Norell may have made the mermaid gown his signature, but this John Anthony has its own spin on the classic epitome of second skin sensuality.  Long Live American Fashion!

LONG SLEEVE AND LIQUID CHIC

John Anthony is a great American designer that we have admired at Decades for many years. As a a matter of fact, we hosted Mr. Anthony at Decades several years ago and showcased his most recent designs offered through his Couture studio in New York City. We have long appreciated Mr. Anthony's design aesthetic of subtle and understated clothing that earned him not only a Coty Award, but a legion of fans including the wives of US Presidents such as Roselyn Carter, Betty Ford, and Jacqueline Kennedy. Mr. Anthony often uses liquid fabrics and the gunmetal evening dress below is super light and fluid. With slightly defined and padded shoulder and gentle sleeve sleeve that narrows as it travels down the arm, this evening dress cuts a very flattering silhouette. When you are craving something sophisticated and sensual, but not overtly sexy, this is the evening dress for you. It's particularly effective when traveling, as it's virtually weightless. It might not take up much room when you pack your suitcase, but the gown packs a real punch when you wear it. With a fab pair of earrings and sexy shoes, you might not reveal the most skin, but you may reveal the most confidence!

JOHN ANTHONY ADDS DRAMA

This is the time of the year when we get desperate calls from clients asking for help is finding an appropriate cover up for a formal evening gown. Sure, you are only stepping out of the limo and walking 8 feet to the building where a door man will welcome you with a smile and a blast of hot air, but those 8 feet may feel like crossing the tundra when you are in a strappy gown with strappy shoes and the weather outside if frightful. Here comes the incomparable American designer John Anthony to the rescue with a black silk soft taffeta voluminous evening coat with an off-the-shoulder neckline (can be worn on the shoulders of course) and an easy length...it's lined in vanilla silk! It's warm enough for a brief sojourn in the cold and light enough that you won't feel like you are schlepping a blanket. Sure, it's great with evening gowns or cocktail dresses, but we also love it with a black cashmere turtleneck and some man-tailored trousers.

This style of coat is very useful, so act fast!
